About the Chicagoland Browncoats
In the year 2002 Fox aired an engaging space western called Firefly. Created by Joss Whedon, it was witty and pretty and all kinds of shiny. Some folks fell in love. Those folks reached out to other folks and decided they should get together and have a shindig to celebrate their show. They called themselves Browncoats. Then the show got cancelled, but the Browncoats decided to get together anyway, and watched the final episode of their show together.
In September of 2004 they threw their biggest shindig yet. Browncoats from all over North America came to Chicago to meet, dress up and generally enjoy themselves at the Browncoat Ball.
Then something miraculous happened. Their little show turned into a big screen movie called Serenity.
And now here we are.
The Chicagoland Browncoats' website is a place for Firefly and Serenity fans from the Chicagoland area and beyond, to discuss our show, keep in touch and to raise money for a good cause. Feel free to take a look around and then join our mailing list or our Facebook group to find out more information about future shindigs.

We will be joining the Sci-Fi Group, the Boardgame Group and several other groups at Mystic Celt on the first Tuesday of every month. Join us at Mystic Celt in the heart of Wrigleyville for a night of fun! We usually have around 40-60 attendees from many local meetups. There's a great variety of people attending and things to do. The event starts at 7pm (although some people get there earlier and some come later) and tends to last until the wee hours of the morning. Feel free to come late or leave early - it's all good! We always have games to play. And there's always fun conversation, good food & yummy drinks!
