We sent the signal out and a few of the brave and bold with their brilliant artistical skillz took up the gauntlet (and their palettes) to create the promotional art for next year’s events. Thank you to everyone who submitted an entry (or two!) to the 2012 Can’t Stop The Serenity Art Contest.

We know it’s going to be a challenge, but we need you, the good folk of the ‘Verse, to help us choose which one will become the official artwork for Can’t Stop the Serenity 2012!

You can only vote once and you’ve only got until 1 November 2011 at 11:59 PM PST to get your voice heard and your vote counted.

Our 9th Annual Apple Holler Mini-Shindig will be Sat. Oct. 22 at 10:30 a.m. We will meet inside for brunch and then head outside to hang out or pick apples followed by a trip down the road to the Mars Cheese Castle.

If you can attend, please let us know asap. We want to know to look out for you, and, because Apple Holler does not take reservations, we want to be able to ask for enough seats for everyone.

If you missed pre-orders but are going to Cyphan in Rosemont at the end of July, stop by our table and say hi. We’ll have a few goodies from previous shows, as well as tickets to this year’s event.

Tickets will be available at the theater box office on August 20th, but not before then. Tickets will go on sale when the doors open at 6:00. You might want to get in early — there’ll be plenty of good stuff on the auction table for you to peruse and bid on! Take a sneak peek at some of the items here, with our eternal thanks to David Boyd for his incredible generosity! Dave, you rock!

We visited the neighborhood around the Portage last Friday (yay for a free screening of “Independence Day”!), and made some updates to the Google map that’s linked off the Theater page. Several of the restaurants shown on the underlying Google map have closed, and a few places not yet listed have opened or are about to open, including a new Italian place directly across the street from the theater. Also note that parking rates have gone up, so you might want to take advantage of the free parking over in the Sears lot.

And lastly, if you know where you might find any Browncoats, Dr. Horrible fans (with or without a phD in horribleness), Whedonites, Ski-maniacs or sundry other parties who might be interested, please spread the word! Flyers ranging in size from a quarter-page handbill to a tabloid size poster are available for download on our Promote page. Thanks for helping the signal go further!

We are working on the 2011 event and should have more details soon.

We are pleased to announce that the Chicagoland Browncoats raised $4,148.36 at the 2010 Can’t Stop the Serenity event. $3,111.27 was donated to the global CSTS charity Equality Now, and $1,037.09 was donated to The House of the Good Shepherd, our local charity.

Thank you to everyone who volunteered for, donated to and came out for the event!

i apologize for the extremely short notice!! some browncoat friends are coming in from out of town, and, having heard of our yearly Apple Holler mini-shindig, wanted to go.

they will be in town this weekend so the only possible day to meet at Apple Holler is this Saturday, Oct 9th.
