Can’t Stop the Serenity
Chicago’s Can’t Stop the Serenity did fantastic this year!
With your help, we raised a 2009 total of:
$4,153.88
$3,115.41 = 75% for Equality Now
$1,038.47 = 25% for The House of the Good Shepherd
I have already given Amy the check for The House and will be writing out and mailing the check to Equality Now tonight.
Once again, thank you so much to everyone who attended this year’s event and and to those who brought items in for our collection drive for The House.
Another big thank you to our volunteers! We arrived at the theater to set up at 1pm and you guys worked tirelessly at making sure everything was set up and ready for our attendees and really kept the event running smoothly!

Can’t Stop the Serenity – Chicago
In 2006 Chicagoland Browncoats raised $2,600 with only 10 days of planning. In 2007, we raised $4,032.90. 2008 brought in $3,463.04 by our generous attendees.
Chicagoland Browncoats are participants of the Global Can’t Stop the Serenity charity event which has, since 2006, raised about $250,000 for Equality Now.
There are two ways to fight a battle like ours. One is to whisper in the ear of the masses, try subtlely and gradually to change the gender expectations and mythic structures of our culture. That’s me. The other is to step up and confront the thousands of atrocities that are taking place around the world on an immediate, one-by-one basis.
