It’s time to get going on this. Please show up if you are genuinely interested in helping out with the charity screening for Equality Now. Every year we host a screening at the Portage theater with all the proceeds going to Equality Now. We charge for the movie Serenity (and this year in addition we will show Dr. Horrible!), accept donations, and auction some really cool swag like signed items and other Joss verse stuff. Things we always need help with are setup, cleanup, advertising, getting sponsors, and getting swag to auction and give away. If this opportunity excites you, please show up and join the fun! We always have a great time, and it’s very personally satisfying to know we made a difference! I will provide something grilled. Please bring a side if you wish to. Come for the Maibock! (That’s beer, and it’s got quite a kick! muwahahahah) Get traditional german brats and sides also. We had a great time last year, and I got totally drunk (like I said, maibock has a kick), so if you want to see that show up! Considering the beer comes in 32oz mugs, it’s a pretty good deal too. The music is extremely loud, so we will probably look for a table off to the side somewhere. Also, if a few people would be willing to show up a little early to help me stake out table space, that would be greatly appreciated! I had somewhat of a hard time holding table space last year. Besides, showing up early means you get an early start on the beer! Please post if you are willing. This is really easy to get to…get off the brown line at western and you are right there. Joss is scheduled to make an appearance on the April 23 episode of the public radio program This American Life. And rumor has it that he will be providing “a special musical performance based around the theme of ‘Return to the Scene of the Crime. (source) The special episode, which will be performed onstage will be simultaneously broadcast to over 400 movie theaters and art centers around the US. A few of us have tickets for the 7 pm broadcast at the AMC River East in Chicago and would love to make it a mini-shindig if anyone is interested!
